New Mothers Feel Pressurised By Celebrities

More than six thousand women took part in a Netmums & Royal Colleges of Midwives survey to reveal that they feel pressurised to lose their weight after having a baby. 6 out of 10  said they felt 'pressurised' to bounce back to their pre-pregnancy weight after seeing celebs such as Halle Berry & Jennifer Lopez lose their weight 'overnight'.Model Heidi Klum was back on the catwalk just six weeks after giving birth to her fourth child, not looking like she's had any kids at all!
Model Heidi Klum has 4 children.
"I have been trying, unsuccessfully, to lose weight as my daughter is almost two years old now, but I am still five stone overweight" said Lindsay Ritchie, 28 - one of the mums who took part in the survey, reports the Metro.  She adds: "If the likes of Tess Daly and Holly Willoughby can get back to pre-pregnancy size in weeks, why can't I?"
Apparently it is the lack of midwife support post-pregnancy.
Tam Fry, chairman of the Child Growth Foundation told the Metro: 'Mimicking the way in which celebrities slim after childbirth is beyond the reach of most women.' She agreed with 60% of the women surveyed that it should be the role of midwives to encourage good nutrition and help with weight loss after pregnancy, with one in five women being obese at pregnancy.
We need to remember that celebrities all have THE BEST personal trainers and professional chefs at their every beck and call, so to all the new Mums out there - stop pressurising yourself to lose weight overnight. Your health and the baby's health come first, and losing weight in a steady manner is always best.
